Wedding Dress Code: Do's & Don'ts of Wedding Guest Fashion

Wedding season is officially upon us! With a fridge covered in wedding invites, it’s time to start thinking about that all important question: What do I wear?! We’re breaking down the do’s and don’ts of wedding guest fashion to help you arrive to the church in style.

Wedding guest do's

DO note the dress code. There's nothing worse than showing up in black tie for a beach casual wedding. If the couple chose not to specify, dress based on the venue. A ballroom reception will require something more formal, while an outdoor venue will typically call for cocktail attire.

DO reach for a print. Big bold prints are a huge trend for Spring and weddings are a perfect time to show them off. Floral prints are a traditional favorite, but don't count out pretty geometric prints.

DO choose an LBD. The classic little black dress is never wrong! Soften the look with neutral accessories for day, or add bold pops of color for an evening reception.

DON'T show too much skin. An evening reception does not mean it's time to break out your hottest bodycon dress. Ample cleavage and too-short hems should be avoided at all costs. Keep it classy, keep it simple.

DON'T over glitz. Dramatic embellishments and sparkly sequins are best left to the wedding gown. Opt instead for a statement necklace or sequin clutch to enhance your look.

Now that we have the do's and don'ts covered, let's take a look at some of our favorite wedding looks...
